August 2019

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome Back!!!

It is a pleasure for me to welcome you back to school!  Our theme this year is “We are Family” and our motto is “Today’s the Day to….” It is going to be a fabulous year! I will get right down to business and list the items that are most important for your return to Delta High School.

** If you have a complete schedule, you can go to the school district web page (http://www.millard.k12.ut.us/) and take care of your fees.  No need to come to the school and wait in line. Go to Quick Links and “Pay School Fees Online.” You can either pay online, or print out the form, fill it out, attach a check and send it to Delta High School, 10 W. Rabbit Road. The computer lab at DHS will be open on Tuesday, August 6 from 9:00-3:00. Counselors will be available to help you if you have any questions about your schedule. If you have a full schedule, there is no need to meet with a counselor. Students had April and May to work on their schedules and take care of changes; if that wasn’t done at that time, it is unfortunate but you will need to stick with your original schedule. Some classes may be full; a counselor will not be able to help with that because once a class is full, we can’t put more students in.

Registration is not complete until you log in to your parent portal and complete the online school forms. When you are updating your information, please make sure to include two parent contact cell phone numbers if possible and a cell phone number for your student (if they have a cell phone) and email addresses.

**Freshmen Orientation is Tuesday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Please bring your schedule as we will show you where your classes are. Parents are invited to come and learn valuable information on being a parent at DHS.

**Back to School night will be Tuesday, August 13 from 2:00-4:00. Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores can come and get a locker if they want one. Freshmen will get their locker at Freshmen Orientation.

**Classes begin on Wednesday, August 14, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:30. This is15 minutes earlier than last year so please adjust your alarm clocks!

**School pictures will be on Friday, August 16.   ALL STUDENTS must get their picture taken for student ID cards.

**NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION- This will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.  Please bring your immunizations, birth certificate and materials from other schools to the front office to get registered. After this is taken care of, a counselor will meet with you to get you registered.

If you are not planning on returning to Delta High School, please notify us as soon as possible so we can free up registration slots.

Thanks for your attention to these items.  We are looking forward to having a great year!

What We Believe

We believe that students need to have good feelings about themselves.  They need to feel capable, worthwhile, and appreciated.  Their self-esteem influences their ability to relate with others and learn successfully.

We believe that positive self-esteem and appropriate behavior are best promoted by making our expectations clear, consistent, and achievable, while praising acceptable behavior.

We believe that if students are provided a caring atmosphere, quality instruction, and the opportunity to experience success they will enjoy and accept their responsibility for learning.

We believe that a learning program designed to meet the individual needs of all students will help prepare them to face the changes and challenges of the future.

We believe that the home is of primary importance to the educational development of each child.  We want to work closely with the parents and/or guardians to provide the best environment and encouragement for each child.

We believe that using the latest in information, materials, and technology will help us to become better educators and give our students the best chance to succeed academically.

We believe that students will benefit from being involved in some aspect of extra-curricular activities.  We feel that those involved assume pride and ownership in the school and can learn positive habits that they may not be able to learn otherwise.
